Daily task report
Previous Top Next

This tab displays the goals (task) for the day or selection of days. For each task you can see the statistics the interruptron keeps: keystrokes, words written, time worked and number of interruptions. Note that the keystrokes are calculated automatically, but you have to input yourself the number of words. This is by design. Imagine that you are writing a paper using a word processor. Every day, before you start, you do a word count (say 2283 words). You note that number somewhere, and type the task in the interruptron as “writing paper XYZ”. When you finish working on that paper for the day, you do another word count and subtract the previous number from the current one. That gives you the number of words the document has grown today. Then you can enter that in the word count text box in the interruptron. This will give you a very good idea on how your writing habits are working (the idea came from Paul Silvia’s ‘how to write a lot’. If the task is not about writing, you can of course leave the word count box blank.

The task log will show a nice summary of the things you did during your day.

After using the interruptron for a long time, you can see a nice log of the things you did during that time. Right now, you can select a month at most.

You can select any day in the past in the month view and press ‘show task reports’ to see the activity you have recorded that day. In the picture, you see my activity for 28/11/2007. You can also select an interval or the whole month. This is a great way to answer the dreaded “where did my time go?” question at the end of the month.
